Our Special Needs program is run by Cassidy Flynn, recent graduate of Leslie University with a degree in Art Therapy. Cassidy has had extensive experience working with individuals with special needs. During her time at Lesley she interned at Perkins School for the Blind where she provided art lessons to students with significant hearing and vision impairments. She also interned at Gateway Arts in Boston, which is a working art studio, gallery, and store that assists over 100 adults with disabilities in developing careers as artists. She also creates in her free time - her favorite mediums to work in are printmaking, painting, ceramics, and mixed media/collage.
The classes are designed to help the students learn about shapes, depth, color and more, but most importantly having fun and being creative! Some projects feature sensory activities. These classes are designed to help the students promote and encourage the students’ creativity with lots of camaraderie and fun! Some adaptive art equipment is available.
