PYSANKY EGG WORKSHOP

Sunday, March 31, 1-4pm

Decorated eggs aren’t just for Easter anymore! We will learn this ancient art where wax and dyes are used to create Pysanky, beautiful decorated eggs. Most people believe these are “painted eggs.” You’ll quickly learn that no painting is involved. The design is written on the egg with layers of wax.  The egg is then dipped into several dye baths.  The final step will reveal a beautiful colored egg.

$36, all materials included - Students will each get a kistka (writing tool), a block of wax, and two eggs to work on.

Ages 14 and up.

Instructor: Local egg artist Christina Deutsch has over 40 years of experience making different styles of decorated eggs using wax and dyes. She has always enjoyed expressing herself creatively, from photography to cake decorating to stained glass, but her true love is creating colorful works of art from hollowed out eggshells.  She looks forward to sharing the magic of taking an ugly, wax-covered egg, and revealing the beautiful colorful design underneath.
